There are a number of accommodation options for couples, families, and individuals. Have a look at the options below and select your desired option when you ENTER on Howler.

 
 

Safari Tents (sleeps 4)

These large A-framed tents can sleep up to 4 people. Configuration can be customised with double or single beds. Linen is provided, as is a bedside table and a lamp. Hot showers and permanent loo’s are abundant but shared. There are deck chairs on the verandah. Tea/coffee station nearby, with fridges and electricity.

These contain 2 single beds each. Linen is provided, as is a bedside table and a lamp. Hot showers and permanent loo’s are abundant but shared. There are deck chairs on the verandah. Tea/coffee station nearby, with fridges and electricity.

 

Dome Tents

These are equipped with 2 single beds or stretchers. Linen is provided, as is a bedside table and a lamp. Hot showers and permanent loo’s are abundant but shared. Tea/coffee station nearby, with fridges and electricity.

 

Camping Spots

Camping Spots are grassy and partly shaded, but without electricity. Bring your own tent and pick a spot on the banks of the Tugela. Hot showers and permanent loo’s are abundant but shared. Tea/coffee station nearby, with fridges and electricity. Choose a site close to camp, or see Warthog Island below.

 

Luxury Units

Hitchings, Shayamoya, Dawsons, Eddies A & B

There are 5 Luxury Units all with adjoining private hot showers and toilets. These are beautifully appointed, combining thatch, canvas, stone and glass to create elegantly rustic accommodation which blends beautifully into the bush. Each unit is afforded a private space and they have tea/coffee making facilities, as well as electric blankets.

 

Semi-Luxury Units

James Camp 1 & 2 and Badlands 1 & 2

There are 4 Semi-Luxury Units (there is an option to put a dome tent outside for kids) all with private showers and toilet. These lovely bungalows boast comfy double beds and a blend of thatch and stone.

Please note that James 1 has a double bed and 2 single beds. It is perfectly suited to a family with 2 children (or a group of close friends!).

 

Comfy Units

Aloes A & B and Hotel & Hotel Bottom

There are 4 Comfy Units each with their own shower and toilet. These quirky thatch bungalows afford a little rustic comfort and are equipped with tea/coffee making facilites.

 

House on the Hill

Suitable for a group of 8-10 (3 rooms are equipped with double beds and the 4th has a double and 2 single beds in it).

House on the Hill which has 4 rooms with a communal lounge and kitchen. This secluded house is positioned on the cliff edge with unrivalled views over the Tugela River. Perfectly suited to a group of friends who want to lounge at the plunge pool in the afternoon and enjoy their space.

 

Warthog Island

Warthog Island offers a wild self-camping option for the more adventurous, free-spirited runners. Beautifully positioned on the grassy banks of the Tugela River, about 2km from the main camp. Hot bush showers and rustic loo’s make this remote spot somewhat comfy.

Zingela pride themselves on serving freshly prepared,
homemade meals.

All meals for the weekend are included for all accommodation options

There is no shortage of food and they never fail to impress us with the variety on offer. Between returning from your event and supper time, there will be a number of permanent tea/coffee stations, offering a variety of snacks. Dinner is served at around 7pm and is buffet style, with at least 2 meat dishes and numerous salad and vegetable dishes on offer.

 

Friday

Dinner will be served on Friday night after a brief welcome at about 7:30pm.

Saturday

Runners and walkers set off after a breakfast of fresh fruit salad, boiled eggs, cereal, cooked oats, freshly baked muffins and yoghurt.

A scumptious lunch is served when everyone is back in camp, at about noon.

Tea/Coffee stations are available throughout the day, where banana bread and crunchies are served.

A harvest spread is provided from about 5pm and a full dinner is served at 7:30pm.

Sunday

On Sunday a light breakfast Oats, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, fresh muffins will be served before the run and a delicious brunch will be served at around 10am after the runners return and before everyone heads home.

There is a well stocked CASH bar at Zingela, run by the lodge. Prices are reasonable.
