Event Rules for Runners/Walkers

  • Competitors need to be 16 years or older to enter.

  • There will be no unofficial participants in the race, running under someone else’s number will result in disqualification.

  • No person will be allowed to run under someone else’s name. Proper procedure is to be followed to make a substitution.

  • If you withdraw from the event, competitors must notify the race timekeepers or a marshal immediately.

  • Compulsory equipment is non-negotiable. Failure to comply will result in time penalties or disqualification, at the Race Director’s discretion.

Medical Care

  • First Aid qualified staff will be available at the event to deal with minor injuries. All entrants are expected to provide us with medical aid details before the start of the event.

  • The First Aid crew has the authority to withdraw a competitor from an event should the competitor’s further participation in the event possibly result in permanent injury, disability or death to the competitor.

  • Competitors are obliged to carry their personal medications on them. The First Aid crew will not be on hand to supply personal medication should the competitors concerned have failed to supply their own.

  • The First Aid crew will provide immediate emergency treatment and stabilisation. Should a competitor require transport by road or air ambulance, the cost of any transport out of the race environment will be carried by the patient.

  • Competitors are required to take appropriate medical insurance against the costs of emergency evacuations and repatriation.

 
 

Compulsory Kit

The following kit will be checked at the start of each stage

  • Trail Shoes

  • Hydration Pack -1 Litre Water

  • Charged Cell Phone

  • Race Number

  • Energy Bars/Food

  • Waterproof Jacket

General

  • All vehicles are to be parked in the designated area. Strictly no smoking will be allowed in the Marquee or Chill Zone of the race village.

  • No dogs allowed.

  • Littering in any way is prohibited.

  • Any competitor wishing to complain any aspect of the event can do so. Complaints may only be made with first-hand knowledge. No second-hand reports will be accepted or considered.

  • Abusive language will not be tolerated. Persons wishing to express outrage will do so in a controlled manner.

  • Any individual, male or female, will be barred from all events for life if found to have used physical violence during the course of the event.

Refund & Substitution Policy:

  • A 50% refund will be paid if requested before 31 January 2023.

  • No refunds will be paid after 1 February 2023.

  • No refunds will be paid if paying through the payment plan.

  • No transfer of entry to future events will be considered.

  • Should The Zingela Trail Event have to be called off or postponed due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we will not be liable for reimbursement of entry fees or any other expenses paid by entrants or spectators.

  • Should you be unable to run, a substitution can be made by selling your entry to another runner and changing the details in your entry.

  • Substitutions attract a R200 charge and must be done before 30 April 2023. 

  • Should we be unable, for reasons beyond our control, to host Zingela Trail Run on the weekend of the 12th May 2023, as planned, a suitable new date for the event will be selected. If a suitable date for the event to be held cannot be secured by the end of May 2024, then all entrants will have the option to be refunded 80% of the total paid, or may carry their entry over to the following event.
